Youth Media
WDIY’s Youth Media Program gives high school students an opportunity to learn all aspects of radio production including writing, voicing, producing, and editing. Each student will produce at least one piece to be aired on WDIY. The group is also responsible for the weekly Youth Media Calendar.
Students selected for the program will receive hands-on instruction in the following areas:
- voicing for radio listeners
- interview techniques
- text editing for radio
- use of recoding production equipment
- editing voice recordings
- final production of recordings for broadcast
Members of the Youth Media program will be expected to attend and participate in 12 of the 16 sessions. The group meets at the WDIY studios on Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm. There are also several other opportunities throughout the year to volunteer at the station including during our on-air pledge drives.
First time applicants are required to submit a writing sample and a teacher recommendation.
